What is Mindful Self-Compassion?
Mindfulness is bringing non-judgmental awareness to the present moment. Self-Compassion is treating ourselves with kindness and compassion as we would a good friend.
Why Mindful Self-Compassion?
Most of us tend to meet our moments of struggle with harsh self criticism instead of with kindness and compassion. Mindful Self-Compassion helps us to recognize we are not alone, and that we can meet our struggle with care and compassion. This in turn builds motivation and increases our resilience and inner strength.
What is Making Friends with Yourself: A Mindful Self-Compassion Program for Teens?
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an eight week program created by Dr Kristin Neff and Dr Chris Germer. Dr Karen Bluth and Lorraine Hobbs created an adaptation of the adult MSC program for teens call MFY–Making Friends with Yourself (MFY): A Mindful Self-Compassion Program for Teens.
